Heavy Industrial Steel Mill with Multiple Crane Systems

This integrated steel mill plant produces carbon steel products. Part of the Henry Ford River Rouge complex, Severstal Dearborn has been  manufacturing since the early 1920’s.

The project to update the complex is comprised of six heavy industrial crane buildings totaling 356,800 sf, with eave heights up to75’. Building structure and crane support beams were designed to handle the combined loads imposed by the simultaneous operation of cranes in adjacent buildings as well as multiple cranes sharing a single crane runway. The facility includes full height Nucor Reverse Classic Wall with translucent panels to allow natural light to penetrate the building’s interior and a Nucor CFR™ Standing Seam roof system.
